Day 3

Pate is still running the fever so he couldn't go to school today. (Pretty sure he has hand, foot, and mouth disease.) It was fire truck day at school, so after we dropped Alabama off, we stayed around to see the fire truck. Alabama was scared of the man in the fire suit, of course, and Pate didn't want to get close either. She sat on Mrs. Cathy's lap the whole time and wouldn't even go outside to see the truck. (She keeps telling me about how she made a new friend and had such a fun time with Jake because he didn't want to go outside either. He made her laugh so much and walked funny and did funny dances. He even lost a tooth at lunch today. So funny!) Pate liked to see the truck, but he didn't want to get on it, just to look.  I thought he would love it since he loves to see fire trucks on the road and makes the wh-oo, wh-oo, wh-oo sound every time! Day 2

Pate woke up from his nap with fever today and so we didn't get to go to church tonight. Poor thing hadn't felt good all day. Still not sure what is the matter. Adam called me to listen in to Dr. Ford's message on speakerphone.  The kids and I went by Pizza Hut and got a cheese pizza and took it to Granny and Aunt Judy's new apartment to see it and eat. Boxes. Everywhere. It seems nice, though! I think we'll go back in about two months when they are unpacked! ha!

31 Days of Memories Made- Day 1

To join in with the 31 Days Posters at the Nesting Place, I'm going to post this month each day about memories made in our family. I think it will be a great way to remember the little moments that make up our every day life.

October 1 -
Today, the preschool had their first chapel service of the year. They sing a few songs and watch a video of a Bible story together. Alabama's class went today. After chapel, Mrs. Lisa told me that she asked for volunteers to pray and Alabama raised her hand! Mrs. Lisa called on her and she prayed out loud! This is way different than anything she would normally do and I am so proud of her! What a reminder of how important it is to pray at home and give our children an opportunity to pray, too! When I asked her what she prayed for, this is what she said. "Thank you Lord for this day. Help us have a great day. Amen." Sweet and simple! Love her!

Pate wore overalls and boots with a blue t-shirt to school today. They had the tool sets out for them to play with today. When I went in to teach music in his class, he was wearing the yellow hard hat and looked just like Bob the Builder with those overalls on. So cute!

Not so cute

My friend, Kristen, asked me if my kids ever wore anything that's not cute!? Of course they do, I just don't take as many pictures or put it on facebook then! ha! It took a little looking to find some, but here are a few of them in their "pretend clothes" as Alabama used to say. (I would tell her to put on real clothes when we were going somewhere so when we got home, she always wants to take that off and put on "pretend clothes". ha!

Pre-school Prayers

So, my two babies start pre-school this week. I didn't think I'd be the Mama that's sad on the first day of school, but, I kinda am. Alabama told me that she wanted to go to school this year so we prayed over it for a very long time and God totally opened doors for us that I could teach at our church preschool, and they both could attend. It was definitely an answer to prayer!

I know she has great teachers and friends in her class, and I know she will have a great time and learn sooo much, and I know that she feels comfortable at church, and I know that it will be great to be on a schedule....but I'm also a little sad that she won't be home with me all day, and that though they will love on her, they won't love her like I do, and I'm a little sad to think of her sweet, tender heart and heartbreak between her friends, and that Pate won't have his Sissy with him all day, and a little scared of things she will encounter that I would prefer she not hear or know about.  (and so now, I'm totally crying the night before preschool...great!)  

 I'm not that worried about Pate. He may not want to leave me, but I will be there when he is on Tuesdays and will only be away on Thursdays. His only problem will probably be sharing the tractor in class! He is such a sweet boy and so laid back and I know he will do great!

 I've prayed for their teachers and their friends, that they would be loved, that they would learn easily, that they would have fun, and that He will protect their minds and hearts. I am so thankful for the opportunity we have and the assurance that we are right where He wants us!

Daddy's 60th Birthday

We celebrated my Daddy's 60th Birthday this weekend! We had a big party for him with lots of friends and family, good bar-b-que, hash, delicious deserts, and great music. Here are a few pictures from our day! Enjoy!

Funny Business

Alabama told Audra last week, "You better not do any of that tongue business, Kah Kah!" We were like "What tongue business????" She said, "You know, how she sticks out her tongue all the time!" haha!

Then, earlier this week, she asked to watch TV. Then she added, "and I don't want to hear anything about no cleaning business!" (I usually tell her she needs to pick up the toys she's got out before she can watch a show.) She is too much!

She likes to say things like other people say them. Like,  instead of Satur-day, Aunt Judy and Granny say "Fridee, Saturdee and Sundee". ha!

In the car, she randomly asked me, "Why does Daddy say whoopin' and you say spankin'"? I said, I don't know, which do you like better? "Spankin'." ha!

On Monday, we had a whole day of "Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn" sung over and over and over!

Last night at the CB I took Alabama to the bathroom and she says "I can't get the poo-poo out!" I say "Shhhh, okay." She says again in a softer voice, "I can't get the poo-poo out!" I whisper "okay!" Then she whispers "why are you whispering?" ha!

We were teaching Pate how to whisper at lunch today and it was so funny to me and Alabama! He'd say "georgia and da-da" in a whisper but can't say "Mama!"
